The Boise River Greenbelt runs directly between Boise State University and Downtown Boise, and into Garden City, making this recreation hub a perfect place to enjoy the Boise River, nature, and local businesses. As you’re making your way back and forth on the greenbelt, here are 5 ½ things you can do right off the path:
1) Visit a local coffee shop
Coffee and a walk are two of my absolute favorite things to do, especially with a perfect brew from Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters (right across the street from campus) or Push & Pour (in Garden City – but still close).
2) Grab a bite and listen to music at Green Acres
Green Acres Food Truck Park is a great place to listen to live music and enjoy food truck goodies. The park is open Wednesday through Sunday, May 2 – October 12. You can discover a new band, catch up with friends in the shade, and keep everyone happy with the different varieties of food options.Â
3) Surf the river wave or paddle on Quinn’s Pond
While on a run, I caught people wake surfing right here in the Boise River. After you’ve watched the wake surfers (or hopped on a board yourself), just to your right is Quinn’s Pond where you can enjoy a nice swim, paddleboarding, or kayaking.
4) Take a dip in the river
A classic, and a good reminder of how many spots are along the Greenbelt. You may already know of a few, but it will be fun to explore and find your new favorite spot.
5) Stop by the Boise Farmers Market
Every Saturday from April – October the Boise Farmers Market hosts tons of local vendors selling produce, fresh bread, flowers, coffee, and more. It really is the perfect way to start your weekend!
