Summary:

These funds are to be used as seed funding for strengthen Idaho’s future by strategically investing in the development of expertise, products, and services which result in state economic growth. Selected project proposals must be in alignment with the statewide higher education research strategic plan.

The goals of IGEM-HERC1 are to a) leverage the talents and expertise of Idaho’s research activities and the private sector to further the economic vitality of the state; b) create a platform to facilitate and accelerate the transfer of technology out of our state research facilities and into the private sector; and c) create new ideas, products, and companies that will lead to higher-paying jobs and a strong economic foundation for Idaho.

Award:

Up to $700,000 per year for up to 3 years

Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline:

Three (3) applications per institution are permitted.

Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigators must first submit a one page white paper to preaward@boisestate.edu by Tuesday, March 9.

Your white paper should include:

  • Team Member Names
  • Brief Overview of the Project

If selected to submit a full proposal, PIs must ensure that proposals meet all requirements stated in the RFP, in the announcement and in the implementing laws and regulations related to this state grant program.

Key Submission Dates:

  • 3/9/21 – White paper due to preaward@boisestate.edu.
  • We encourage you cc your Dean for visibility as well
  • 3/10/21 – Internal Awardees Notified
  • 3/29/21 – Full proposal due to OSP
  • 4/1/21 – Full proposal due to SBOE

Important Note on Requirements:

Planning grants will not be considered for this solicitation.
