Permission Number Request Form for Honors Courses – Fall 2025

Thank you for your interest in Honors 398. Please read all of the course information before submitting a permission number request.

Course Sections

(1st 7 weeks) Honors 398-001 is a Hybrid course. The only required in-person sessions are on Friday, Sept. 19 (1:00-8:30pm) and Saturday, Sept. 20 (8:30am-6:00pm). You are required to participate in all of the in-person weekend sessions (Sept. 19-20) to pass the course. The rest of the coursework is done online before and after the in-person weekend. We recommend that students take the Hybrid section if possible. It does not require a permission number to enroll. If you prefer the Hybrid section but it is full, get on the waitlist! We typically go through a good number of waitlist spots since there are so many seats in the course.

(2nd 7 weeks) Honors 398-4001 is entirely online, spread evenly over seven weeks with twice-weekly deadlines. You can expect between 5-7 hours of self-directed work per week, and you need to stay on top of deadlines to be successful in the course. This section is meant for students who cannot take the Hybrid section. Priority will be given to students graduating in FA25 and SP26.

Course Timing

To enroll in Honors 398, you must be 1-3 semesters from graduation, so graduating no later than FA26. If you are graduating in FA26, we recommend taking Honors 398 at a later date (unless there’s a compelling reason why you need to take it now). Ideally, you should take Honors 398 the semester before you apply for what’s next (graduate school or a job). It’s a highly practical course that works to prepare you for your next steps after graduation, so if that’s a ways off, you won’t get nearly as much out of this course as you will if you’re nearing graduation.

The 498 Senior Seminar online section is for students who cannot attend one of the in person sections of the course. Given the limited number of spaces for the class, we want to be sure we have enough spots for people who absolutely cannot take another section.
