
Edvin Subašić coordinates Boise State University’s TRIO Teacher Prep Program and is a published author. Born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, he moved to the United States in 1997 at the age of 21 due to the Bosnian War. The TRIO program supports first-generation and underrepresented students pursuing teaching careers.
Subašić supports students achieve their goals by providing guidance and resources. He values seeing students grow and succeed, noting, “Witnessing students change and find their way to success, leading to their growth and new possibilities,” is what he loves most about his job.
Recently, Subašić participated in StoryFort on March 27th, 2025 ,as part of the Treefort Music Fest in Boise. StoryFort brings together authors, poets, and writers for readings and discussions, offering a platform for literary talent in Idaho. At this event, Subašić shared an excerpt from “Thug,” a story about an immigrant finding his way in Portland, Oregon. When asked about his writing, he said, “What I love most about writing is the creative process that always keeps me on my toes.”
Subašić’s writing has been featured in notable journals such as McSweeney’s, Nimrod International Journal, Redivider, and The Florida Review. His story “Thug,” published by Nimrod, explores themes of immigration and resilience. He has received the Redivider Beacon Street Prize in Fiction and The Florida Review Meek Awards, and has been nominated for Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize.
